Vince Zampella, who helped create the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in Los Angeles, California aged 55.
His passing was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company that he helped create.
The influential game designer died after his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, US media outlets report.
"This is a heartbreaking loss, and we stand with Vince's family, those closest to him, and everyone impacted by his work," an official with Electronic Arts commented.
