The former Liverpool manager states a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains an option. Klopp, after a transformative nine-year spell which brought a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, now holds positions in a global football capacity for Red Bull and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured the league title in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would embrace the notion that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club on English soil. So that means in case it's my former club...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means the choice could be mine later on, I don’t know. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to the touchline, Klopp admitted he isn't eager toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip media briefings repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, yet sharing a meal with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games thus frequently a very good mood in the building. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly for his successor, praising him for the adjustments which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good balanced team. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, along with the consequences on Liverpool. Jota died tragically in a car crash alongside his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about the player himself, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A profound tragedy for all the boys also. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Dealing with that individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
