Six Arrested After €12 Million Armed Raid on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators using assault rifles and handguns employed explosives to force entry into a precious metals processing plant located in the city of Lyon, causing light wounds to five staff members during described as the latest high-profile daytime heist to hit the country.

The bold operation took place on Thursday late morning, with officers swiftly apprehending the individuals believed responsible and securing the stolen items valued at approximately 12 million euros (£10.5 million), according to officials.

Five employees of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt from the blast, and three employees were transported to hospital for evaluation, the regional prefecture announced. A total of twenty-eight staff were inside the facility when the robbers attacked.

The suspects, thought to be career criminals, were detained soon afterwards in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, France, according to investigative sources.

A female accomplice who took part in the heist was also apprehended, a police source indicated.

“Six people who utilized explosives in an assault targeting a precious metals company in Lyon, France were apprehended red-handed,” France's security official declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were also confiscated.

The raid happened as law enforcement in France on Thursday detained five further people, featuring a main perpetrator, in connection with the recent audacious theft at the Louvre.

Many investigative personnel have been hunting four thieves who used a vehicle featuring an elevating platform and cutting equipment to breach a first-floor gallery at the museum on the nineteenth of October, making off with ornaments assessed at around €88 million.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently forced their way into the Natural History Museum in Paris, making off with gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was arrested earlier this month in the city of Barcelona in connection with the break-in, prosecutors stated.
